Start free — we apply for you →Purpose of Role: As our Risk and Tax Officer, you will be the guardian of the company's tax compliance and fiscal risk management. You will work closely with our operations, finance, and legal teams to ensure all tax obligations are met efficiently and legally, while proactively identifying and mitigating risks before they escalate. Key Responsibilities: Risk Management: Develop and implement a comprehensive tax risk framework. Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate tax-related risks across mining and other operational sites. Tax Health & Compliance: Lead internal "tax health checks" to review corporate tax, VAT, PAYE, and other tax heads, ensuring our operations are compliant and prepared for any ZIMRA audit. Dispute Resolution: Manage and support the resolution of tax disputes before ZIMRA. Prepare robust objections, appeals, and supporting evidence to secure fair and favorable outcomes for the company. Strategic Tax Advisory: Provide sound technical advice on complex, grey-area tax matters, including international tax, transfer pricing, and the interpretation of new legislation. Advise on the tax implications of group restructurings and new ventures. Legislative & Policy Monitoring: Track local, regional, and international tax legislative and fiscal policy changes. Analyze national budget statements and brief senior management on practical implications for the mining sector. Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain constructive working relationships with ZIMRA and Ministry of Finance officials. Represent the company's interests professionally in all tax-related engagements. Training & Capability Building: Identify training needs and deliver internal workshops to build tax capability across the finance and operational teams. Technical Research: Research and summarize decided tax case law, incorporating relevant precedent into advisory opinions and dispute submissions to build a strong, defensible position for the company.
