- This is a newly created role combining revenue assurance, clearing account ownership, and finance project management within Lesaka Enterprise. It is intended to reduce key-person risk in the Settlements function, strengthen the completeness and accuracy of revenue recognition, and provide dedicated project management capacity for Enterprise Finance's reporting and ERP transformation agenda.
- The role will take ownership of clearing account reconciliations and controls reducing reliance on a single individual within the Settlements team, act as a second line of review over revenue recognition across Enterprise entities, provide maternity-leave cover and cross-training within the Settlements function, and project-manage key Enterprise Finance initiatives, including the forthcoming ERP implementation and related reporting improvements.
- Working closely with the CFO, the Team Leader: Settlements, and the broader Enterprise Finance team, the incumbent will combine strong technical accounting skills with project delivery capability.
The role's responsibilities include the following
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Revenue Recognition & Assurance
- Review revenue recognition across Enterprise entities for completeness and accuracy in accordance with IFRS 15.
- Investigate and resolve revenue-related reconciliation differences and anomalies.
- Partner with Settlements and FP&A to strengthen controls over revenue completeness checks.
Clearing Accounts Ownership
- Take ownership of clearing account reconciliations and controls across Enterprise settlement entities.
- Reduce key-person risk by documenting clearing account processes and cross-training within the Settlements team.
- Investigate and clear aged or unreconciled clearing account balances.
Settlements Cover & Continuity
- Provide trained backup cover for core Settlements functions ahead of, and during, planned maternity leave within the team.
- Support the Team Leader: Settlements with commission, fee, and clearing account processes as required.
Finance Project Management
- Act as project manager for Enterprise Finance initiatives, including the forthcoming ERP implementation.
- Coordinate requirements gathering, testing, and stakeholder sign-off across Enterprise Finance workstreams.
- Project-manage improvements to Enterprise financial reporting processes and timelines.
- Track and report project progress, risks, and issues to the CFO.
Treasury Support
- Support treasury functions across Enterprise entities, including cash positioning and bank reconciliation oversight where required.
- Assist with liquidity and funding-requirement monitoring in conjunction with the Financial Managers.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3 - 5 years' post-articles experience in financial accounting, revenue assurance, or reconciliations, ideally including project delivery.
- CASA with Big 4 or equivalent audit background, or strong commercial accounting experience in financial services/fintech/payments.
- Demonstrated experience with clearing account or settlement reconciliations is strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting or leading a system/ERP implementation is advantageous.
- Multi-entity, multi-currency reporting experience.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- CASA – Chartered Accountant South Africa, or equivalent, required or strongly preferred.
- BCom Accounting Honours or equivalent.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel; Power BI/Power Query experience advantageous.
- Strong IFRS knowledge, particularly IFRS 15 Revenue.
- Project-management exposure formal certification not required, but structured delivery experience essential.
WORK BEHAVIOURS AND ATTRIBUTES
- Comfortable working across both deep technical accounting detail and higher-level project coordination.
- High level of accuracy and control-consciousness, particularly around clearing accounts and revenue.
- Self-starter, able to build new processes and documentation from scratch in a newly created role.
- Strong stakeholder-management skills, working across Settlements, FP&A, IT, and the CFO.
- Adaptable and comfortable with a broad, evolving mandate.
