A leading client within the retail sector is seeking for an experienced and driven Retail Supervisor to join their team in Chatsworth, Durban . The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily store operations, managing staff performance, and ensuring smooth workflow within a high-volume retail environment. The ideal candidate must have strong leadership skills and proven experience supervising a large headcount , with the ability to manage, motivate and support a diverse team while maintaining operational standards. Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage daily activities of retail staff to ensure operational efficiency.
- Allocate duties and monitor staff performance.
- Manage a large team and ensure employees adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training and staff development.
- Handle employee-related matters, including attendance, leave management and performance concerns.
- Liaise with HR regarding employee records and workplace matters.
- Monitor payroll-related information and ensure accurate submission of timesheets.
- Provide basic IT support and assist with system-related queries.
- Ensure excellent customer service standards are maintained.
- Monitor stock processes, merchandising standards, and store compliance.
- Prepare reports and provide feedback to management.
- Ensure health and safety standards are followed within the workplace.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management or a related field (essential) .
- Minimum 1-year supervisory experience , preferably within the retail sector.
- Proven experience managing and supervising a large number of employees .
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of HR processes, payroll procedures, and basic IT systems .
- Ability to manage staff attendance, performance, and disciplinary processes.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime when required.
