Our Household Textile Client is looking for a Retail Store Manager based in Richards Bay
Overview
The Branch Manager is responsible for the overall management and performance of the branch, ensuring the achievement of sales and profitability targets while delivering excellent customer service.
The role oversees all home textile categories, including bedding, linen, towels, curtains, décor and related products. The Branch Manager is responsible for managing staff, stock, merchandising, customer relationships, operational standards and compliance.
Salary: Market-related
Working hours
Monday – Friday - 08h00 -16h30
Sat and Sunday - 08h00-14h00
1 day off a week
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Grade 12 / Matric required.
- Diploma or degree in Business Management, Retail Management, Marketing or a related field will be advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years' management experience in retail, preferably within the home textile, furniture, décor or related industry.
- Proven experience managing a sales team.
- Experience with stock and inventory management.
- Experience working with sales targets and performance KPIs.
- Strong customer service and operational management experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Branch Management
- Take full responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the branch.
- Ensure the branch operates efficiently and in line with company policies and procedures.
- Drive branch sales, profitability and operational performance.
- Monitor daily, weekly and monthly branch performance against targets.
- Identify opportunities to improve branch performance and customer experience.
- Ensure the branch is maintained to the required company standards.
2. Sales & Business Development
- Drive achievement of monthly and annual sales targets.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase sales and profitability.
- Monitor sales trends and identify opportunities across all home textile categories.
- Encourage upselling and cross-selling across product ranges.
- Build strong relationships with customers and key accounts.
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends.
- Provide regular feedback to management regarding market conditions and customer requirements.
3. Staff Management
- Lead, motivate and manage the branch team.
- Set clear performance expectations and monitor employee performance.
- Allocate duties and ensure adequate staff coverage.
- Conduct regular team meetings and performance discussions.
- Identify training and development requirements.
- Address disciplinary and performance matters in accordance with company policies.
- Promote a professional, customer-focused and positive working environment.
4. Stock & Inventory Management
- Ensure accurate stock management across all home textile categories.
- Monitor stock levels and identify fast-moving, slow-moving and obsolete stock.
- Minimise stock losses, damages and discrepancies.
- Ensure stock counts and reconciliations are completed accurately.
- Monitor stock replenishment requirements.
- Ensure products are correctly priced, labelled and displayed.
- Work closely with the warehouse and buying teams to maintain appropriate stock availability.
5. Merchandising & Store Presentation
- Ensure the branch consistently meets company merchandising standards.
- Maintain attractive and well-organised product displays.
- Ensure promotional campaigns and displays are implemented correctly.
- Monitor product presentation across bedding, towels, curtains, décor, linen and other home textile ranges.
- Ensure promotional and seasonal displays are updated timeously.
6. Customer Service
- Ensure customers receive professional and efficient service.
- Handle customer complaints and resolve issues promptly.
- Monitor customer feedback and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure staff maintain high standards of product knowledge and customer engagement.
- Build long-term customer relationships and encourage repeat business.
7. Financial & Administrative Management
- Monitor branch expenses and control operating costs.
- Ensure accurate cash handling and banking procedures.
- Monitor daily sales and financial reports.
- Ensure all branch administration is completed accurately and on time.
- Investigate and report financial discrepancies.
- Ensure branch activities remain within approved budgets.
