- A leading South African retailer is consolidating its food and general merchandise fashion, beauty, home ecommerce platforms into a single, unified customer experience – one cart, one checkout, one delivery. This Project Manager role exists to drive that consolidation from a business and operations perspective.
- This is explicitly not an IT project management role. The technology is an enabler – the real work is aligning business operations, commercial teams, fulfilment logistics, and warehouse management around a new way of working.
- Due to the high volume of applications expected, candidates who have not received feedback within two weeks of applying should consider their application unsuccessful.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end project management of the online fulfilment consolidation programme from a business and operations lens
- Coordinate across ecommerce operations, commercial teams, warehouse management, last-mile delivery, and store operations to drive alignment and delivery
- Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, and delivery timelines across multiple business workstreams
- Manage risks, issues, and dependencies – escalating early and resolving at the right level
- Facilitate cross-functional working sessions and drive decisions where workstreams intersect
- Track operational readiness across all fulfilment touchpoints as consolidation progresses
- Manage stakeholder communication across business units, ensuring consistent understanding of progress, priorities, and change impacts
- Partner with the Online Fulfilment Specialist and Change Manager to ensure operational and people readiness ahead of each delivery phase
Requirements
- Proven project management experience in a retail operations or ecommerce environment
- Strong understanding of retail fulfilment, logistics, or last-mile delivery operations
- Demonstrably business and operations-focused – not an IT or systems PM
- Ability to manage complexity across multiple business functions simultaneously
- Strong stakeholder management across operational and commercial teams
- Comfortable with ambiguity in a programme still being defined and shaped
- Formal PM methodology experience PMP, Prince2, or equivalent advantageous
