Retail Manager

Introduction

SA Baking Supplies, a growing supplier of baking ingredients, baking equipment and related products, is opening a brand-new branch in Witbank (Emalahleni), Mpumalanga . We are looking for an experienced and energetic Retail Manager to take ownership of the store and help establish a successful new retail operation.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on retail professional who enjoys working with people, understands sales and store operations, and has the drive to grow a branch from the ground up.

About the Role

The Retail Manager will be responsible for the overall day-to-day operation of the store, ensuring excellent customer service, effective stock management, strong sales performance and a well-organised retail environment.

You will lead and develop the team, drive sales, manage stock and ensure the new branch delivers a consistently positive customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operations of the retail store.

• Lead, motivate and manage the retail team.

• Drive sales and achieve monthly targets.

• Deliver excellent customer service and resolve customer queries professionally.

• Maintain a clean, organised and well-presented store.

• Manage stock receiving, stock counts, replenishment and stock control.

• Monitor and minimise stock losses and discrepancies.

• Ensure accurate cash handling and daily cash-up procedures.

• Assist with ordering and replenishment.

• Ensure products are correctly priced, displayed and merchandised.

• Build strong customer relationships and identify sales opportunities.

• Ensure company policies and procedures are consistently followed.

• Support staff training and development.

• Prepare relevant sales and operational reports.

• Support the successful launch and growth of the new Witbank branch.

Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric.

• Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a retail management or supervisory role.

• Previous experience managing a retail store and team.

• Strong sales and customer service skills.

• Experience in stock control and inventory management.

• Experience with cash-ups and point-of-sale systems.

• Good administrative and organisational skills.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

• Computer literate.

• Proactive and hands-on approach to retail management.

• Willingness to work retail hours, including Saturdays and public holidays when required.

Advantageous

• Experience in baking, food, kitchen, hospitality or related retail.

• Knowledge of baking ingredients, equipment or baking supplies.

• Knowledge of the Witbank/Emalahleni retail market.
