To successfully manage and grow the branch by overseeing daily retail operations, sales performance, customer service, stock control, and administrative functions.
The Branch Manager will work closely with customers and staff on the shop floor, ensuring operational efficiency, excellent customer experience, and achievement of branch targets while maintaining compliance with company procedures and standards. Duties & Responsibilities
Minimum Requirements Qualifications & Experience
- Matric / Grade 12
- Minimum 5 years’ retail branch management experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Must reside within approximately a 15 km – 18 km radius of the Bedfordview branch
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Proven sales ability with a strong sales track record
- Product and application knowledge, including the ability to read catalogues
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Strong administrative and financial management skills
- Leadership and staff management capability
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
- Fluent in English with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Professional, well-presented, persuasive, and results-driven
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Branch Performance
- Drive achievement of branch sales targets and profitability
- Monitor daily sales performance and sales staff productivity
- Ensure priority stock items are actively promoted and sold
- Coordinate and oversee daily sales activities
- Ensure accurate processing of customer orders and quotations
- Manage back-orders and communicate ETA updates to customers
- Review quotations daily and ensure timely follow-up
- Maintain strong relationships with customers to support repeat business and customer retention
Branch Operations & Staff Management
- Manage the overall day-to-day operations of the branch
- Supervise, support, and motivate sales and operational staff
- Conduct regular sales, strategy, and operational meetings
- Manage staff performance, attendance, discipline, training, and development
- Ensure effective communication between departments, warehouse, dispatch, and Head Office
- Supervise temporary and casual staff when required
- Ensure compliance with company operational procedures and health & safety standards
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
Stock Control & Inventory Management
- Oversee all incoming and outgoing stock movements
- Conduct daily and monthly stock counts
- Investigate and report stock discrepancies and shortages
- Ensure correct receiving, binning, labelling, and storage of stock
- Liaise with management to maintain adequate stock holding levels
- Coordinate urgent deliveries with dispatch and warehouse teams
- Ensure correct product allocation for customer applications
- Manage warranty, scrap, and export stock processes and documentation
- Ensure receiving and stock areas comply with safety standards and procedures
Customer Service & Relationship Management
- Deliver exceptional customer service at all times
- Assist customers with product selection, quotations, and technical advice
- Handle customer complaints, refunds, and warranty queries professionally
- Demonstrate product usage and provide product-related guidance
- Ensure all warranty documentation is completed accurately and submitted timeously
- Escalate major customer issues to management where necessary
- Maintain positive customer relationships and uphold the company’s professional image
Administration & Financial Control
- Manage branch administrative and financial functions effectively
- Oversee debtors, creditors, reconciliations, and payment allocations
- Ensure GRNs, GRVs, invoices, IBTs, PODs, and related documentation are processed accurately
- Review and authorise credit notes and high-value purchases
- Ensure cash-ups and banking processes are completed correctly
- Maintain branch asset registers, stationery control, and filing systems
- Ensure all documentation is submitted to Head Office within deadlines
- Manage attendance registers and general branch reporting
- Perform general administrative duties and branch support functions as required
