Introduction

An established South African industrial group operating within the manufacturing sector is looking for an experienced Regional Security Manager to oversee security operations across its Gauteng and Mpumalanga sites. The role operates within a sizeable, multi-site industrial environment and requires strong security leadership, practical investigation experience, risk management and asset protection.

This is a senior, hands-on operational role suited to someone who is calm and decisive under pressure and able to take direct ownership of serious incidents, theft, fraud and security-related risks.

THE TYPE OF PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • This opportunity will suit an experienced security professional who is energetic, calm under pressure and comfortable taking ownership when serious incidents occur.
  • Importantly, this is not a role for someone who manages security purely from an office or delegates all operational investigations to junior team members.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage regional security operations across Gauteng and Mpumalanga.
  • Develop, implement and continuously improve security protocols, controls and risk-management strategies.
  • Identify security vulnerabilities and implement practical measures to protect company assets, employees and operations.
  • Prevent, identify and investigate incidents of theft, fraud, employee collusion and other security-related misconduct.
  • Personally participate in and oversee investigations, gather relevant information and prepare detailed investigation reports.
  • Respond effectively to security incidents and emergencies and ensure appropriate corrective action is taken.
  • Manage and monitor third-party security service providers and ensure required service and compliance standards are maintained.
  • Conduct security audits, risk assessments and regular operational inspections.
  • Oversee CCTV and other security technologies and ensure security equipment remains effective and fit for purpose.
  • Identify and recommend new technologies and security solutions to mitigate emerging risks.
  • Manage and control security-related expenditure and identify cost-effective security solutions.
  • Liaise with SAPS, security service providers, operational management and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure appropriate security administration, reporting and legislative compliance.
  • Support compliance relating to the Second-Hand Goods Act and other relevant legislation.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • PSIRA Grade A registration – compulsory.
  • A tertiary qualification in Security Management or an equivalent field.
  • Minimum of 6 years' senior security management experience.
  • Strong practical experience in:
  • Security and operational risk management
  • Asset protection
  • Theft and fraud investigations
  • Employee-related investigations and misconduct cases
  • CCTV monitoring and security systems
  • Incident management and reporting
  • Security audits and risk assessments
  • Managing security personnel and external security contractors
  • Strong report-writing and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport.
  • Experience within a manufacturing, logistics, industrial or similarly operational environment will be highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the Second-Hand Goods Act and related legislation will be advantageous. Candidates without direct exposure must be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of operational security risks and the ability to quickly apply relevant legislation within the business environment.

The successful candidate should be able to provide practical examples of situations where they have personally:

  • Investigated theft, fraud or serious security incidents.
  • Managed cases involving employees suspected of collusion or criminal activity.
  • Identified operational security risks and implemented corrective measures.
  • Worked with management, SAPS and external security providers.
  • Made sound decisions under pressure and handled sensitive or high-risk situations.

Strong commercial/corporate security experience will be important. Candidates coming from police, military or security-service-provider environments should ideally also have meaningful exposure to security operations within a corporate, industrial or commercial organisation.

OPERATIONAL AVAILABILITY

Due to the nature and seniority of the position, the successful candidate must be comfortable working in a highly operational environment.

Security incidents can occur outside normal business hours, and the Regional Security Manager will therefore need to be available when required for after-hours incidents, weekends, public holidays, shutdown periods, night-time emergencies and travel to different or remote operational sites.

Regional travel between operational locations will form part of the position.

Package & Remuneration

A market-related senior management package will be offered, together with benefits including:
