The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Regional Sales Manager with a track record of success to take responsibility for growing our business across the greater KwaZulu-Natal region.
This is a hands-on, field-based sales management role requiring someone with a proven track record in both delivering sales growth and successfully managing a regional sales team .
The successful candidate will be responsible for growing existing customer accounts, winning new business, developing the regional sales strategy and leading the sales team to achieve agreed targets.
This role is suited to someone who understands the retail hardware and security trade , knows how to build strong customer relationships and has the commercial drive to identify and convert opportunities in the market.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of regional sales performance and growth across KwaZulu-Natal.
- Manage and grow relationships with hardware stores, security dealers, distributors and retail groups .
- Develop new business and personally drive the acquisition of new accounts.
- Grow sales and product penetration within existing customer accounts.
- Build strong relationships with owners, buyers, branch managers and other key decision-makers.
- Lead, manage, motivate and develop the regional sales team.
- Set sales targets and monitor individual and regional performance against agreed objectives.
- Coach sales representatives in customer management, sales opportunities and business development.
- Conduct regular customer and store visits and remain actively involved in the market.
- Identify market opportunities, competitor activity, pricing trends and customer requirements.
- Identify opportunities to introduce and increase sales across BBL's product range.
- Work closely with internal sales, stock and technical teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Prepare regional sales forecasts, reports and territory plans.
- Take accountability for achieving regional sales targets and delivering sustainable growth.
Desired Experience & Qualification
The ideal candidate will have
- Minimimum 3 years experience selling and or promoting products / brands to retail hardware stores, security wholesalers or security hardware installers.
- A proven track record of growing sales and developing customer accounts within a defined region .
- Proven experience managing, motivating and developing a regional sales team and delivering results through that team.
- Strong experience in hardware retail, wholesale, security products, building supplies or a related trade environment .
- A solid understanding of how hardware stores, security dealers and trade customers operate .
- A proven ability to win new business while growing and retaining existing accounts .
- Experience setting sales targets, managing performance and taking accountability for regional sales results.
- Established relationships within the hardware, security or related trade sectors would be a significant advantage.
- Strong commercial, negotiation, account management and business development skills.
- Good knowledge of security hardware, locks, access control, safes, key-cutting equipment or related products would be highly advantageous.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to analyse sales performance, identify opportunities and turn them into measurable results.
- A hands-on approach, with the ability to spend significant time in the field with customers and the sales team .
- A valid driver's licence, reliable transport and willingness to travel extensively throughout KwaZulu-Natal.
- A relevant qualification is advantageous, but proven industry experience and results are equally relevant
