The Inventory Controller is responsible for maintaining accurate stock records, conducting stock counts, managing inventory discrepancies, and ensuring all stock is correctly stored and recorded on SAGE . The role also involves preparing stock reports, maintaining documentation, monitoring inventory movements, and improving stock control processes to support operational efficiency, stock availability, and cost management .
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Ensure stock control and reconcile with data storage system.
- Ensure all stock are quality checked and binned correctly and timeously.
- Ensure all bins required to be counted for the day are closed off on same day on SAGE.
- Ensure all bins are counted in full by month end.
- Ensure all stock discrepancies are investigated and communicated to Operations Supervisor and Branch Manager.
- Ensure all bins are used effectively, marked correctly and product codes displayed on correct location.
- Ensure stock takes are conducted.
- Conduct 3rd counts of stock as required.
- Ensure effective housekeeping in stock holding area at all times.
- Review documentation and monitor product codes to search for discrepancies; troubleshoot quantity discrepancies between stock and records.
- Monthly counts with the branches and weekly counts for sub-contractors.
Serialization Administration
- Ensure data systems are accurate and updated at all times.
- Ensure stock journals are completed on SAGE.
- Pull stock valuation reports from SAGE and ensure all stock are allocated correctly.
- Maintain stock control systems and ensure sufficient stock availability at all times.
- Provide stock reports as required by the Warehouse Manager and Procurement manager.
- Develop and implement improvements to existing operational procedures in order to maximize efficiency and cut operations costs.
- Track rates of accuracy, purchase and return as well as defective items to inform quality control decisions.
- Prepare, generate, and file financial inventory reports; review reports monthly with management.
- To proactively investigate system variances and resolve.
- To proactively check all paperwork to ensure no further variances are incurred.
- Ensure weekly and accurate filing of all paperwork.
