The Regional Aftersales Manager will act as the OEM's critical link to the dealer network within their region, ensuring dealer aftersales operations meet brand standards, customer complaints are resolved swiftly, and service, parts and warranty performance support the growth of sales volumes and dealer footprint.
Duties & Responsibilities
Dealer Standards & Compliance
- Conduct regular dealer visits and audits to monitor compliance with OEM aftersales standards (service, parts, workshop facilities, tools, signage and customer experience).
- Identify non-compliance gaps, agree corrective action plans with dealers, and track close-out within set timeframes.
- Support the onboarding of new dealers into the network, ensuring aftersales infrastructure and processes are established before go-live.
Customer Complaint & Escalation Management
- Act as the point of escalation for customer complaints referred by dealers or received directly, ensuring root-cause investigation and fast, fair resolution.
- Track complaint turnaround times against SLA targets and report on trends by dealer and region.
- Coach dealers on complaint-handling procedures to reduce repeat escalations.
Dealer Performance Monitoring & Support
- Monitor dealer aftersales KPIs (service uptake, parts sales, warranty claims ratio, customer satisfaction/NPS, workshop efficiency) and report variances monthly.
- Provide hands-on coaching, guidance and training to dealer service and parts teams to lift performance and technical capability.
- Support dealers with operational, technical and process issues that affect customer turnaround times.
Warranty & Technical Oversight
- Review and validate warranty claims for accuracy and policy compliance, liaising with dealers and the OEM warranty team on disputed or complex cases.
- Escalate recurring technical or quality issues to Head Office/Engineering for investigation.
Regional Reporting & Business Partnering
- Provide regular reports to Aftersales/Head Office management on dealer performance, complaint trends, standards compliance and market observations.
- Act as the “eyes and ears” of the OEM in the region — flagging competitor activity, market risks and opportunities affecting customer satisfaction and dealer viability.
- Build strong working relationships with dealer principals and aftersales managers to drive collaboration rather than compliance-by-instruction.
Network Growth Support
- Support the expansion of the dealer network by assessing aftersales readiness of prospective dealers and assisting with facility, staffing and process setup.
- Assist in the rollout of new products, campaigns or service programmes across dealers in the region.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Diploma or Degree in Business Management, Automotive Management, Mechanical Engineering or a related field (National Diploma minimum; a relevant Degree is advantageous).
- Automotive trade qualification (e.g. Qualified Technician/Master Technician) is an advantage.
- Minimum 5–8 years' experience in an automotive dealership or OEM environment, with at least 3 years in a Service/Parts/Aftersales management or regional support role.
- Proven experience in dealer network management, customer complaint resolution and warranty administration within the motor industry.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and dealer management systems (DMS).
Skills and Competencies
- Strong customer-centric mindset with excellent complaint-resolution and conflict-management skills.
- Sound technical/automotive aftersales knowledge (service, parts, warranty processes).
- Analytical ability to interpret dealer performance data and identify trends.
- Excellent coaching, influencing and relationship-building skills with dealer principals and staff.
- High attention to detail and process discipline for standards audits and compliance reporting.
- Strong verbal and written communication and reporting skills.
- Self-managed, resilient and able to work independently across a dispersed dealer network.
