- The Recruitment Officer is responsible for delivering effective, high-volume recruitment support across Pedro's stores in Johannesburg. The role manages the recruitment process for frontline, entry-level, supervisory and junior management positions, ensuring vacancies are filled with suitable candidates within agreed timelines.
- The Recruitment Officer will work closely with Store and Operations Managers to understand workforce requirements, build strong candidate pipelines and deliver a professional recruitment experience while maintaining high standards of accuracy, compliance and candidate engagement.
Duties & Responsibilities
Recruitment & Selection
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process for crew and entry-level store positions.
- Support recruitment for supervisory and junior management positions.
- Review and screen applications against defined job requirements.
- Conduct telephonic and face-to-face interviews and assessments where required.
- Shortlist suitable candidates and provide relevant candidate information to hiring managers.
- Coordinate the recruitment process from initial screening through to appointment.
High-Volume Recruitment
- Manage multiple vacancies across Johannesburg stores within agreed recruitment timelines.
- Proactively source candidates through relevant recruitment channels and platforms.
- Build and maintain talent pipelines for recurring and high-volume vacancies.
- Support recruitment drives, hiring days and other volume recruitment initiatives.
- Monitor recruitment progress and identify opportunities to improve turnaround times.
- Maintain an active pipeline of suitable candidates to support ongoing operational hiring requirements.
Stakeholder Management
- Partner with Store and Operations Managers to understand workforce requirements and recruitment priorities.
- Provide regular updates on vacancy progress, candidate pipelines and recruitment challenges.
- Coordinate interviews and ensure hiring managers receive relevant candidate information.
- Build strong working relationships with operational stakeholders to support effective recruitment delivery.
- Provide guidance to hiring managers on recruitment processes and requirements where necessary.
Candidate Management
- Provide candidates with clear, professional and timely communication throughout the recruitment process.
- Coordinate interviews, assessments and other selection activities.
- Manage candidate offers and ensure all required documentation is completed accurately.
- Coordinate pre-employment checks and verification processes.
- Maintain a positive and professional candidate experience throughout the recruitment journey.
Recruitment Administration & Systems
- Maintain accurate candidate, vacancy and recruitment information on the relevant ATS/recruitment systems.
- Ensure recruitment documentation is complete, accurate and appropriately filed.
- Track vacancies and recruitment activity to ensure positions progress within agreed timelines.
- Prepare recruitment reports and provide relevant recruitment updates to management.
- Ensure recruitment processes are conducted in accordance with company policies, procedures and applicable requirements.
- Maintain accurate recruitment records and ensure data integrity across recruitment systems.
Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12 – essential.
- Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Recruitment or a related field would be advantageous.
- 1–3 years' experience in recruitment or HR administration.
- Experience within a high-volume recruitment or multi-site environment would be advantageous.
- Experience recruiting or screening candidates for entry-level, frontline or operational positions .
- Experience within retail, FMCG, hospitality, QSR or another high-turnover environment would be advantageous.
- Experience using an Applicant Tracking System ATS or recruitment database .
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple vacancies and competing priorities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Professional, proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage confidently with candidates and operational stakeholders.
