Job Description

  • To engage in operating a power-driven mobile hoist/ reach truck with a lifting capacity exceeding 6 000 kg used in the loading, unloading, moving or stacking of goods and/ or pallets, but does not include an internal motor vehicle in alignment with predefined work objectives as per agreed standard operating procedures.

Job Requirements

  • Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 Equivalent.
  • Valid Reach Truck Operator Licence/Certificate – R/T Code F5 AM 1600kg.
  • 2–3 years' reach truck operating experience in a warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing environment.
  • Good understanding of warehouse operations and inventory movement.
  • Exposure to loud noise, extreme temperatures, dust, moving machinery and production equipment.
  • Must be physically fit frequent lifting, bending and standing.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime including shifts and weekends when required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate a reach truck safely and efficiently to move raw materials, finished goods, and stock between production, storage, and dispatch areas in accordance with company policies and health and safety regulations.
  • Load, unload, move, stack, and retrieve pallets from high-level racking systems and designated warehouse locations securely and safely.
  • Replenish picking locations and retail floor stock as required.
  • Ensure all loads are handled carefully, ae secure, balanced, and transported without damage.
  • Accurately receive, locate, and store incoming goods.
  • Assist team members in picking, staging, loading, unloading, rotation, and storage of product.
  • Assist with stock control/ rotation, cycle counts and inventory audits.
  • Assist to repack sales orders and loading orders.
  • Verify stock quantities and report discrepancies immediately.
  • Rotate stock according to FIFO First In, First Out principles where applicable.
  • Conduct daily pre-operation inspection of reach truck and completion of reach truck checklist before start of shift and report defects or maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse aisles, storage locations, and work areas.
  • Assist truck driver/s by ensuring that vehicles are loaded and unloaded in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to all health and safety procedures and regulation and warehouse operating standards at all times.
  • Wear required PPE at all times.
  • Complete all relevant documentation accurately.
  • Report accidents, near misses, hazards, damaged stock, shrinkage, and unsafe conditions immediately as per company policy.
  • Perform any other duties as may be required by management.
