Raw Material Manager

Introduction

Main Purpose of the Job

Responsible for receiving, issuing and balancing stock. Ensure integrity and accuracy of the Raw Material management. Monitor and evaluate consumable usage. Manage control measures to ensure mistakes, inaccuracies and discrepancies are highlighted, addressed and resolved. Ensure timely procurement of Raw Materials

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibility Areas

• Coordinating, directing, and administering purchasing, and receiving of Raw material products

• Maintain optimum inventory levels to ensure production levels meet customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and premium transportation charges

• Ensure macro materials and micro materials do not go below set minimum stock days

• Investigate and properly follow up any deviations in material required for the production schedule

• Guarantee that all raw materials are duly checked in accordance with the set standard specifications and procedures (COA , Moistures, Grading)

• Proper quality control practices of raw material storage, raw material movement (FIFO).

• Manage stock losses and yields

• Stock rotation, conducting cycle counts to ensure correlation between stock on the floor and in the system monitor and evaluate usage of consumables

• Manage suppliers’ relationship, evaluate performance and provide feedback for improvement.

• Prepare reports, analyze usage, costing, stock control.

• Maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe workplace

• Management of staff

Desired Experience & Qualification

Education, experience and competencies required

• Grade 12

• Relevant tertiary qualification (advantageous)

• Minimum 4 years’ work experience in the nutritional animal feed industry

• Minimum 4 years of managerial or supervisory experience

• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in raw material products

• Strong understanding of raw material supply chain processes

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and able to establish logical practical solutions

• Computer literate

• Sound insights into macro and micro economics, currencies, weather cycles and patters.

• Knowledge of manufacturing processing of Animal Feed

• Must be medically fit

• Must be a South African Citizen

• Must have own reliable transport and valid driver’s license
