Job Description

  • A reputable building contractor , with over 50 years of industry experience , is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team based in Paarl . This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a respected construction company delivering commercial building projects ranging in value from R20 million to R200 million .
  • The successful candidate will play a key role in the commercial management of multiple construction projects, ensuring effective cost control, contract administration, and financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and project budgets.
  • Manage all pre- and post-contract quantity surveying functions.
  • Prepare and evaluate subcontractor enquiries and appointments.
  • Measure, value, and certify work completed.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports and financial forecasts.
  • Manage project budgets and monitor commercial performance.
  • Prepare and assess variations, claims, and final accounts.
  • Assist with procurement of subcontractors and materials.
  • Ensure accurate cost control throughout project execution.
  • Liaise with project managers, site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
  • Monitor project expenditure and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records using CCS Candy software.
  • Ensure projects are completed within approved budgets and commercial objectives.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree or National Diploma in Quantity Surveying from a recognised University or University of Technology.
  • Approximately 5–10 years' experience within the building construction industry.
  • Proven experience on commercial building projects.
  • Experience managing projects valued between R20 million and R200 million will be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in CCS Candy software is highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement, and cost management.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
