Quantity Surveyor

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications Essential:

• BSc Quantity Surveying or BTech Quantity Surveying. • Registration with the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP) or eligibility for registration. • Valid driver's licence. Preferred:

• Professional Quantity Surveyor (PrQS).
• NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC) Accreditation or equivalent NEC4 Contract Management certification.
• FIDIC or GCC Contract Administration certification.
• Project Management qualification.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years' Quantity Surveying experience .
• At least 3 years' experience within mining, engineering or heavy industrial projects .
• Proven practical experience in the administration of NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contracts (ECC) is essential.
• Experience in managing Compensation Events, Early Warnings, payment assessments and contract close-out.
• Experience within an EPCM or Owner's Team environment will be advantageous.

Technical Knowledge The successful candidate should have sound knowledge of: Quantity Surveying:

• Quantity Surveying principles. • Cost engineering and cost estimating. • Cost control and budget management. • Financial forecasting. • Bills of Quantities. • Procurement. • Project controls. Contract Management:

• NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC). • Early Warning procedures. • Compensation Events. • Defined Cost and Fee calculations. • Accepted Programmes. • Target Cost Contracting. • Payment assessments. • Contract Data. • Scope preparation and interpretation. • Risk allocation. • Contract close-out. Other Contract Forms:

• GCC.
• FIDIC.
• JBCC.
• South African Contract Law.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial administration of mining construction, engineering and infrastructure contracts throughout the project lifecycle. Key responsibilities include:

• Administer Engineering and Construction Contracts, including NEC4, GCC, FIDIC and JBCC contracts where applicable.
• Advise the Project Manager on contractual rights, obligations and commercial risks.
• Review and interpret contract documentation.
• Manage contract compliance and contractual correspondence.
• Evaluate and administer NEC4 Compensation Events, Variations and Claims.
• Assess Extension of Time (EOT) applications in conjunction with the Project Team.
• Monitor contractual obligations, milestones and key dates.
• Prepare payment assessments and recom
