QUALITY, SAFETY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT MANAGER

The QSHE Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality management systems. This role ensures compliance with statutory requirements, industry standards, and company policies while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence across Uganda Baati Ltd operations. Key Responsibilities 1. Quality Management Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001 and other applicable standards. Ensure compliance with quality policies, procedures, and customer requirements. Coordinate internal and external quality audits and inspections. Monitor quality performance indicators and prepare management reports. Investigate quality issues, customer complaints, and non-conformities and implement corrective and preventive actions. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality standards and operational efficiency. 2. Occupational Health and Safety Management Develop and implement occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and programs. Ensure compliance with safety legislation and industry best practices. Conduct workplace risk assessments and hazard identification exercises. Lead accident, incident, and near-miss investigations and recommend corrective actions. Coordinate emergency preparedness and response plans. Organize safety training, awareness campaigns, and toolbox talks. Monitor compliance with the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). 3. Environmental Management Develop and implement environmental management programs in line with ISO 14001 standards. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permit requirements. Monitor environmental performance, including waste management, emissions, and resource utilization. Promote sustainable environmental practices throughout the organization. Lead environmental audits, inspections, and compliance assessments. Coordinate environmental impact assessments and mitigation plans where applicable. 4. Compliance and Audit Management Ensure compliance with all applicable statutory, regulatory, and corporate requirements. Plan and coordinate internal, external, and certification audits. Maintain records and documentation required for regulatory inspections and certifications. Track corrective action plans and ensure timely closure of audit findings. Liaise with regulatory authorities and certification bodies. 5. Training and Awareness Develop and implement QSHE training programs for employees and contractors. Conduct induction and refresher training on quality, safety, health, and environmental matters. Promote a positive QSHE culture across all business units. Provide technical guidance on QSHE matters to management and staff. 6. Reporting and Performance Monitoring Develop QSHE performance metrics and KPIs. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual QSHE reports. Analyze trends and recommend improvement measures. Present QSHE performance updates to senior management. 7. Leadership and Team Management Lead and supervise QSHE staff and committees. Develop departmental work plans and budgets. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and regulatory compliance. Support organizational strategic objectives through effective QSHE management.
