- The Quality Control Officer is responsible for ensuring that all residences are cleaned in accordance with tender agreements and that the Cluster RSC's and RSCs comply with their duties as it pertains to the cleanliness of the residences and facilities.
- Responsible for regular inspections and reporting to the Manager: Residence Services, on the state of the residences at both Stellenbosch and Tygerberg campuses.
- Drafting reports of inspection outcomes and providing it to the manager.
- Ensuring that the correct cleaning equipment, chemicals and techniques are used.
- Attending monthly and quarterly Cluster meetings and actively contributing to discussions and initiatives focused on cleaning operations, quality standards, compliance and continuous improvement.
- Conducting refresher training on inspections in and around facilities on a need-to basis to identify and heighten awareness on deviations.
- Ensuring that OHS cleaning standards are adhered to.
- Ensuring that SOP's, policies, procedures and tender requirements are adhered to by service provider companies and compiling reports.
- Providing guidance and support on non-compliance and assisting with corrective action where required.
- Arranging with Purchasing and Provision Services to execute swab tests of surfaces as well as testing equipment and verifying that chemicals are correctly diluted for cleaning purposes.
- Obtaining an understanding of the standards agreed to with the cleaning service provider as per the tender.
- Conducting monthly stock control spot checks of storage areas, ensuring that equipment and products are efficiently utilised, and providing the manager with a report on stock levels and stock usage.
- Identifying potential discrepancies and conducting in-depth investigations by monitoring monthly stock and equipment orders and deliveries from service providers to ensure efficient utilisation of resources.
- Creating inventory sheets and ensuring relevant equipment and assets are located on both campuses as per the tender requirements.
- Detailed reporting to the manager on client evaluation scorecards of service providers.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- Grade 12 Senior Certificate.
- At least five years' proven appropriate supervisory experience gained within comparable environments in the hospitality industry, e.g. hotels and guest accommodation, or student accommodation in terms of cleaning standards and norms.
- Proven knowledge of industry, chemical products, equipment, and day-to-day cleaning activities.
- Knowledge of detailed cleaning inspections.
- In-depth knowledge of tender scope and execution.
- Knowledge and experience in occupational health and safety.
- Proven excellent interpersonal skills.
- Project management skills.
- Document control and excellent recordkeeping practice.
- Well-developed numerical skills.
- Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling
- A certificate or diploma in the cleaning industry will be beneficial.
- A valid driver's licence.
