Start free — we apply for you →Job Title: Quality Assurance / Quality Controller – Mining Projects Start Date: 2026-07-30 - 2026-08-29 Vacancy Type: Permanent PTA001799 Sectors: Logistics, Warehouse & Freight Mining and Quarrying Location: Gauteng , JHB - Southern Suburbs Salary: (Market related) Brief: Quality Assurance / Quality Controller – Mining Projects One of our clients, a leading organisation within the mining industry, is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance / Quality Controller to join its team on a major mining project based in Heidelberg, Gauteng . The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing, monitoring and maintaining quality assurance and quality control systems to ensure all engineering, construction and installation activities comply with project specifications, applicable codes, client requirements and industry standards. The role requires close collaboration with project managers, engineers, contractors, site supervisors and inspection personnel to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality project outcomes. Detail: Minimum Requirements: Grade 12 (Matric). National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical discipline. Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control role within the mining, construction, EPCM or heavy industrial environment. Proven experience working on mining capital projects, plant construction, shutdowns or infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of quality management systems (QMS), quality assurance principles and quality control processes. Experience conducting inspections, audits and quality verification activities. Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and inspection test plans (ITPs). Experience reviewing material certificates, welding documentation and quality records. Knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and inspection procedures will be advantageous. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Excellent report writing, communication and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify quality non-conformances. Willingness to work on-site in Heidelberg, Gauteng. Roles and Responsibilities: Quality Assurance Implement and maintain project quality assurance systems and procedures. Ensure all project activities comply with approved quality management plans and client specifications. Review quality documentation, procedures and inspection requirements before project execution. Verify compliance with applicable engineering standards, codes and statutory requirements. Promote continuous improvement initiatives within the project quality management system. Quality Control Conduct inspections of materials, equipment, fabrication, installations and completed work. Verify that construction and engineering activities comply with approved drawings and specifications. Monitor workmanship to ensure compliance with quality standards. Perform quality checks throughout all phases of project execution. Identify, record and report quality non-conformances. Inspection & Testing Coordinate and witness inspections and testing activities. Review and verify Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs). Ensure all required inspections are completed before work progresses to the next phase. Review material test certificates, inspection reports and quality documentation. Coordinate with third-party inspectors where required. Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate quality records, inspection reports and project documentation. Prepare daily, weekly and monthly quality reports for project management. Compile quality dossiers and handover documentation upon project completion. Ensure all quality documentation is complete, accurate and readily available for audits. Monitor document revisions and ensure controlled documentation is used on site. Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions Identify quality defects and non-conformances during project execution. Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) where required. Monitor corrective and preventative actions until close-out. Investigate quality issues and recommend improvements. Ensure lessons learned are communicated to project teams. Stakeholder Coordination Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, Contractors, Inspectors and Client representatives. Attend quality meetings and project progress meetings. Provide technical guidance regarding quality standards and inspection requirements. Liaise with suppliers and contractors regarding quality-related matters. Support project teams in achieving quality objectives. Compliance & Governance Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality management requirements and project quality procedures. Ensure all project work complies with contractual quality requirements and engineering specifications. Support internal and external quality audits. Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures and statutory regulations. Promote adherence to health, safety, environmental and quality standards on site. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve quality systems and inspection processes. Monitor quality performance indicators and recommend improvements. Assist in developing quality procedures, checklists and inspection templates. Support training initiatives to improve quality awareness across project teams.
