- We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented and safety-conscious Quality Assurance & Health and Safety Officer to join our Warehouse team.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that warehouse operations comply with ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements, Health & Safety legislation, company policies, procedures and operational standards.
- The role will focus on maintaining high standards of quality, safety, compliance, risk management and continuous improvement, while ensuring the warehouse is fully prepared for internal and external audits.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.
- Relevant qualifications in Quality Management, Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety or a related field.
- Relevant Health & Safety certification.
- Valid First Aid certificate.
- Fire Fighting certificate will be advantageous.
- 2–3 years' relevant experience, preferably in a warehouse, logistics, manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Practical knowledge of ISO 9001/14001/45001 requirements.
- Experience in conducting inspections and risk assessments including ASIB
- Experience in incident/accident investigation will be advantageous.
- Experience with audits and corrective action management.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality Assurance & ISO 9001/14001/45001
- Maintain and monitor compliance with the ISO 9001/14001/45001 Quality Management System.
- Maintain and ASIB monitor compliance
- Ensure warehouse procedures and work instructions are implemented and consistently followed.
- Conduct regular quality inspections and compliance checks.
- Identify, record and report quality deviations and non-conformances.
- Monitor corrective and preventative actions and ensure timely closure.
- Maintain accurate quality records and documentation.
- Assist with internal and external ISO audits.
- Ensure the warehouse is 100% audit-ready for the annual external ISO 9001/14001/45001 audit.
- Assist with investigating customer complaints, quality issues and process failures.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in warehouse processes.
- Check security cameras for any non-compliance
Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with applicable Occupational Health and Safety legislation and company safety requirements.
- Conduct regular Health & Safety inspections throughout the warehouse.
- Monthly H&S meetings with H&S reps and reporting possible issues
- Identify hazards, unsafe conditions and unsafe working practices.
- Conduct and maintain workplace risk assessments.
- Monitor compliance with PPE requirements and safe working procedures.
- Assist with accident, incident and near-miss investigations.
- Ensure corrective actions arising from safety inspections and investigations are followed through.
- Monitor warehouse housekeeping and ensure work areas, walkways and emergency exits remain safe and accessible.
- Assist with emergency preparedness, fire inspections and evacuation drills.
- Promote a strong safety culture and encourage employees to report hazards and near misses.
- Ensure that all contractors comply with all H&S requirements including up to date safety files
- Check security cameras for any non-compliance
Warehouse Compliance
- Monitor compliance with operational procedures relating to receiving, handling, sorting, pressing, storage and dispatch.
- Monitor safe handling and storage of wool bales and other materials.
- Monitor forklift, vehicle and pedestrian safety within the warehouse.
- Identify operational risks that may affect product quality or employee safety.
- Ensure non-conforming products or processes are identified and appropriately controlled.
- Work closely with Warehouse Management and employees to resolve quality and safety issues.
- Ensure that all forklifts and machinery load mass certificates are kept up to date
- Reporting any issues with machinery and forklifts
Training & Awareness
- Conduct Health & Safety inductions for new employees and contractors.
- Conduct regular toolbox talks and safety awareness sessions.
- Communicate quality and ISO 9001/1400/45001 requirements to warehouse employees.
- Promote employee awareness of safe working practices and quality standards.
- Maintain training and attendance records.
- Ensuring that all forklift drivers' licenses are renewed and up to date
Reporting & Administration
- Maintain accurate Quality Assurance and Health & Safety registers and records.
- Compile regular reports on quality, safety, incidents, inspections and corrective actions.
- Track outstanding audit findings and corrective actions.
- Provide management with recommendations regarding quality, safety and compliance risks.
- Ensure all required documentation is accurate, current and readily available for audits.
