Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, servicing, and repairs on heavy plant equipment and commercial vehicles.
  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, hydraulic systems, and electrical faults.
  • Maintain and repair equipment including:
  • JCB TLBs
  • Sany Mobile Cranes (mechanical components only – lifting gear maintained by specialist contractors)
  • Toyota Trucks (3-ton to 10-ton)
  • CAT Equipment including skid steers and rollers

• Conduct fault-finding using diagnostic tools and technical manuals. • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and electrical systems. • Perform routine inspections to identify potential mechanical issues before failures occur. • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records. • Assist with spare parts identification, sourcing, procurement, and stock control. • Liaise with suppliers regarding parts availability and quotations. • Ensure all work complies with company safety standards and relevant legislation. • Keep the workshop clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety requirements. • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimise operational downtime. Minimum Requirements

  • Qualified Diesel Mechanic (Trade Tested).
  • Minimum 5 years' post-trade experience maintaining heavy earthmoving and construction equipment.
  • Strong experience working on:
  • JCB equipment
  • CAT machinery
  • Toyota trucks
  • Mobile cranes (mechanical maintenance)

• Excellent knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and drivetrains. • Ability to diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults. • Experience with preventative maintenance programmes. • Computer literacy sufficient for maintenance records and parts procurement. • Valid driver's licence (Code EC advantageous). Preferred Experience

• Experience maintaining mixed fleets of earthmoving equipment and commercial vehicles. • Previous experience in a plant workshop environment. • Familiarity with spare parts procurement and supplier management. • Experience with preventative maintenance systems.
