QA Raw Material Technician

• We have the opportunity within our Spreads Siqalo Foods Division for a QA Raw Material Technician role. The role is based in Boksburg and will report to the Inbound QA Coordinator.
• The QA Raw Material Technician will be responsible for assisting with the quality assurance service of the business in order to ensure that products produced by the company are fit for use by the consumers according to Company's specifications and standards.

Minimum Requirements

• Must have a minimum National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent/relevant to the job, e.g. Packaging Technology/Food Science, etc.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge and experience using SAP, MS Word and Excel.
• Ability to analyse data and information to recommend action.

Duties & Responsibilities Inbound:

• Analyses all raw materials for non-conformities against company's specifications and standards.
• Liaise with raw material suppliers and drive corrective actions.
• Submits detected non-conformities to the QA Manager, Planning and Buying in order to follow up with suppliers.
• Carries out Audits in the Warehouse and Dispensary to ensure that GMP is adhered to.
• Is responsible for processing material returns advice and supervises removal of poor-quality material from site.
• Drive raw material supplier approval with supply management.
• Ensures that all transactions are recorded on SAP daily.
• Ensure that all raw material suppliers are compliant with required QA certification/audits.
• Ensures that all in-bound quality checks are being done as per SOP.
• Provide statistical data for SPC and process capability for inbound materials.
• Provide technical support and expertise to suppliers for capability assessment, innovation execution, QMS application.

Packing Hall

• Manage quality stream during raw material trials.
• Monitors packed masses on the MCOM mass control management system.

Laboratory Requirements

• Ensures company test methodology is followed.
• Scoping and spacing of lab equipment where relevant.
• Ensure supplier meets company standards.

Consumer and Customer Focus

• Investigate raw material consumer and customer complaints and develop quality assurance improvement systems for the factory.
• Collect and statistically evaluate supplier quality data to identify quality improvement opportunities within the supply chain.
• Work with the suppliers to develop corrective action plans to correct any process failings and drive improvement in quality and productivity.
• Supplier performance review with procurement.
• Supplier audits and performance review.

Innovations

• Supports all raw material related Innovations.
• Can decide in consultation with QA & production manager whether or not a trial passes due to the quality of functionality of the raw material on the lines.

Reporting

• Report supplier non-conformance trends on a weekly and monthly basis.
• Provides reports to procurement/buying teams for supplier reviews.

Third Party Support

• Carries out audits at the 3rd parties to ensure that GMP is adhered to.
• Support on company test methodologies.
