MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of diploma NQF 6 in Public Relations/ Communication/ Journalism/ Film and Television and/or Marketing; attach transcript
  • New entrants into the Public Relations/Communications environment in other words, applicants must not have previously worked or held a Public Relations / Communication internship position
  • Basic understanding of Public Relations / Communication
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel; software
  • Willingness to learn Public Relations / Communication
  • Ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders
  • Must be a South African citizen

DUTIES

  • Assist in conducting interviews with staff, students, alumni and other stakeholders to support institutional news reporting
  • Assist in identifying, researching and writing institutional news stories for publication on the University website, intranet, newsletters and other communication platforms
  • Assist with the implementation of marketing and brand awareness campaigns
  • Assist with planning, coordination and communication of university events
  • Support student recruitment activities, including school outreach, open days, career exhibitions and the distribution of recruitment information
  • Assist in capturing high-quality photographs and videos of University events,ceremonies, campaigns and institutional activities
  • Assist in planning, shooting and editing promotional videos, interviews, documentaries and social media content
  • Assist in producing short-form digital content for the University's social media platforms and website
  • Assist with alumni engagement activities, alumni database administration, event coordination and communication with graduates
  • Support the planning and implementation of social media campaigns and assist with the preparation of social media copy and content schedules
  • Assist with social media monitoring and the compilation of media coverage reports
  • Maintain organized records of news articles, photographs, publications, campaign material and other departmental content
  • Provide general administrative and coordination support across the communications, Marketing, Alumni Relations, Student Recruitment and Events functions
  • Perform any other related duties assigned by the supervisor
