A globally active multidisciplinary engineering firm that offers solutions for the mineral processing & water sectors has a vacancy for a Proposals Engineer/Estimator to assist the BDM in the preparation of proposals. The role is based in Sandton, Gauteng. An applicable technical qualification in Engineering/Draughting/Costing is essential. Previous experience in metallurgical plant design, process plant design, proposals, estimating, design & draughting. Local & International travel may be required from time to time. Medically fit. Clear employment checks. Valid driver's license. Permanent position.
Duties & Responsibilities
To assist the BDM in the preparation of proposals in the Metallurgical Plant or equipment supply industries
Metallurgical (Process) plant layouts & designs
Structural / Civil / Mechanical aspects of process plant design
Generation of BOM components and scope of work documents
Evaluate and log enquiries received.
Assist with the development and preparation of designs and cost estimates for proposals.
Interface with equipment suppliers, construction companies, external consultants, and other potential subcontractors to obtain prices in response to the scope of the enquiry.
Calculate dimensions, capacities, and quantities by applying mathematical formulas
Prepare costed BOM/BÓQ’s from drawings
Assist the purchasing department with detailed material requirements, vendor selection and costing details
Attending and providing input in client, sales and project meetings
Communicate with customers regarding technical information
Develop technical solutions in response to the enquiry
Manage the preparation of proposals to achieve the required submission dates
Prepare the submission document including the required write-ups, supplementary documentation etc
Desired Experience & Qualification
Technical qualification in Engineering/Draughting/Costing
Structural / Civil / Mechanical aspects of process plant design
Previous experience in
Proposals
Estimating
Metallurgical plant design
Process plant design
Design & Draughting.
Local & International travel may be required from time to time.
Medically fit
Clear employment checks
Valid drivers license
Excellent communication, people and conflict management skills.
Computer literate in MS Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook).
Proficient in AutoDesk range of software (AutoCAD minimum).
Revit experience would be beneficial, but not essential
Excellent proposal writing skills
Good language and grammar skills will be required.
Self-motivated, energetic, positive and enthusiastic person who can effectively meet deadlines.
