Position Overview

The Property Caretaker will be responsible for the upkeep, repair, and smooth functioning of all facilities, structures, and systems within the private estate. This role requires versatility, technical skill, and discretion, ensuring the estate remains safe, functional, and aesthetically always maintained.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections of estate buildings, utilities, and grounds.

• Carry out repairs on plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and general fixtures.

• Oversee preventative maintenance schedules for equipment and infrastructure.

• Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or installations.

• Maintain tools, equipment, and workshop areas in good order.

• Support estate staff with ad hoc tasks requiring technical expertise.

• Ensure compliance with safety standards and estate security protocols.

• Provide timely reporting on maintenance activities and resource needs.

Qualifications & Skills

• Proven experience in property maintenance, facilities management, or technical trades.

• Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.

• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently.

• Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.

• High level of integrity, discretion, and respect for privacy.

• Valid driver’s license; ability to operate estate vehicles or machinery if required.

Preferred Attributes

• Experience working in private estates, hospitality, or luxury property environments.

• Familiarity with horticulture or groundskeeping is advantageous.

• Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with estate management.

• Flexibility to respond to urgent maintenance needs outside standard hours.
