Lexdan Select is assisting an Alternative Energy Company with their search for an Project Engineer. Based in Cape Town.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical project execution for utility-scale BESS and hybrid PV/BESS projects, from handover through commissioning and final acceptance.
- Validate project scope, technical specifications, contractual obligations and performance requirements.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, suppliers, EPC contractors and customers.
- Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, technical calculations and project documentation.
- Manage technical risks, design changes and interfaces between battery systems, inverters, control systems and grid connections.
- Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), installation, commissioning and technical issue resolution.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards, safety regulations, grid requirements and project specifications.
- Support pre-construction application engineering, including system sizing and design, and travel to project sites across Southern and East Africa.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Project Engineer in solar PV and BESS or BESS-only systems.
- Strong knowledge of solar PV and BESS design and modelling software, such as PVSyst and HOMER.
- Advanced proficiency in engineering software such as CAD, ETAP, DIgSILENT and MS Project.
- Understanding of regional regulatory frameworks, engineering calculations and technical design validation.
- Knowledge of FAT, SAT and commissioning procedures for medium-voltage (MV) equipment.
