Job Title: Project Engineer Start Date: 2026-08-27 - 2026-09-26 Vacancy Type: Contractor JHB001243 Sectors: FMCG Location: Gauteng , Sedibeng (Vereeniging) Salary: (Market related, Negotiable) Brief: Project Engineer (Project Lead) Contract: October 2026 - September 2027 Are you a hands-on Project Engineer with a proven track record in industrial projects, plant installations, and commissioning? Our client is seeking an experienced Project Engineer (Project Lead) to drive the successful implementation, installation, commissioning, and start-up of a new converting facility. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in bringing a major manufacturing facility to life, working closely with engineering, procurement, operations, contractors, suppliers, and executive stakeholders. Detail: DO NOT APPLY IF YOU TO DO NOT FULLY QUALIFY Key Responsibilities Develop and manage the integrated project schedule using Microsoft Project. Coordinate multiple workstreams including civil works, utilities, equipment installation, IT readiness, logistics, training, and commissioning activities. Drive installation and commissioning plans to ensure successful start-up and handover. Manage contractors, suppliers, and vendor performance to ensure project milestones are achieved. Facilitate planning and sequencing workshops with key stakeholders. Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement recovery plans where required. Conduct site visits to suppliers and contractors across Gauteng. Prepare management reports and present project updates to executive stakeholders. Ensure site readiness for equipment, people, processes, and production operations. Requirements Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or National Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial, Chemical, Construction, or related field). Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) will be advantageous. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Project is essential. Experience 5+ years' experience in engineering project execution within industrial, manufacturing, FMCG, mining, utilities, infrastructure, construction, or similar environments. Proven experience managing projects from planning through installation, commissioning, and handover. Experience with factory start-ups, warehouse developments, plant expansions, or major brownfield projects. Strong contractor, vendor, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to manage multiple workstreams and maintain visibility of critical project dependencies. Comfortable operating independently without dedicated project administration support.
