Job Purpose

The Department of Construction Management seeks to appoint a Professor of Construction Management to facilitate teaching and learning as well as research supervision of Honours, Masters, and Doctoral students. The main aim of this professorship is to maintain the University as the leader in the discipline and profession of Construction Management on the African continent.

As a dynamic African university, recognised for its leadership in generating cutting-edge knowledge for a sustainable future, this professorship aims to consolidate and enhance the department’s position as the pre-eminent location for management of the business of construction and projects theorisation. Alongside developing relationships between industry and academia to enhance the business of construction and projects, the position’s further aim is to provide scholarly leadership in Construction Management and supervision capacity for the MSc and PhD in Construction Management programmes. Duties & Responsibilities

Minimum Requirements

  • An appropriate doctoral qualification in Construction Management.
  • Possess 6–10 years of higher education experience as a Professor and additional 2 years at the Associate Professor level, with at least 5 years in Construction Management.
  • Skilled in postgraduate teaching and supervision.
  • Demonstrable record of research publications in accredited international and national publications.
  • Demonstrate the ability to raise research funds and lead research projects.
  • A minimum of five-years Construction Management experience.

An added advantage for candidates would be

  • Registration with the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) or similar internation registration relative to Construction Management.
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Association of Construction Project Management (ACPM) or similar professional associations.
  • An ability to theorise using indigenous languages, particularly those spoken in the Eastern Cape.
