About the role

  • The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating production and warehouse operations within a licensed pharmaceutical distribution centre.
  • The role ensures the efficient, safe, and compliant handling of pharmaceutical products while achieving daily operational and service delivery targets.
  • Working within a highly regulated environment, the incumbent is accountable for maintaining compliance with SAHPRA requirements, Good Distribution Practice GDP, Good Warehousing Practice GWP, and the Medicines and Related Substances Act.
  • The role also focuses on leading and developing warehouse teams, ensuring stock accuracy and integrity, promoting a culture of safety, and driving operational excellence to support business objectives and customer satisfaction.

What you bring

  • Matric / National Senior Certificate NQF Level 4 is the minimum educational requirement.
  • A National Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field NQF Level 6 is highly advantageous.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience working in a warehouse or distribution centre environment.
  • At least 2 to 3 years' supervisory or team leader experience within an operations or production setting.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical wholesale, FMCG, or regulated distribution environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SAHPRA inspections, Good Distribution Practice GDP audits, or the handling of scheduled medicines is considered a strong advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams effectively and improve operational processes.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills to coordinate activities and liaise with stakeholders.
  • Proficient in using warehouse management systems and standard office software.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

What you'll do

  • Ensure all warehouse operations comply with SAHPRA, GDP, GWP, and Medicines and Related Substances Act regulations.
  • Lead and supervise production activities including order picking, quality checks, packing, and dispatch to meet daily targets.
  • Manage and develop warehouse teams, providing training, feedback, and performance management.
  • Conduct daily inspections and audits to maintain a safe, clean, and compliant working environment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation such as batch records, temperature logs, and production reports for regulatory readiness.
  • Oversee handling of schedule-specific medicines and temperature-sensitive products following established protocols.
  • Monitor productivity using Warehouse Management Systems and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Liaise with Quality Assurance, HR, and distribution management to ensure smooth operations and compliance.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Ensure proper management of Personal Protective Equipment and emergency readiness across all shifts.
