Production Operator Tapper (Fixed Term)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB To safely prepare the tap floor and auxiliaries and to tap the Furnace to recover molten product. SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY Participate and comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox) CUSTOMERS Ensure Customer Satisfaction BUSINESS PROCESSES Tapping: Prepare the tap floor and auxiliaries for tapping molten material Tap the furnace to recover the smelted product Open the taphole by means of a taphole drill and lancing Maintain the taphole with the drill rod Close the taphole by means of a mud gun or manually Prepare slag skimming area Casting of the taphole Furnace Floor: Cleaning of the gooseneck Preparation of sand seal of gooseneck Housekeeping Casting inspection floor Unblock chute Loading coke in the furnace Material Handling: Sling equipment Direct the operation of an overhead crane Handle a load by means of an overhead crane Casting: Prepare metal casting and slag runners Sampling: Take metal and slag samples Submission of samples to Laboratory with sample ticket Reporting: Update the tapping log sheets and the MES system Ad hoc tasks to be performed as per requirement WORKING CONDITIONS Overtime Shifts BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES: Safety Awareness Initiative Managing Work Results Orientation Work Standards Interpersonal Skills Communication Adaptability Contributing to team Success WORKPLACE COMPETENCIES: Job Skills: Required training as per training matrix Computer Literate (MS Office) Knowledge: Demonstrate an understanding of Furnace and plant environment
