Introduction

Production Foreman (Brick Manufacturing) - Klapmuts, Western Cape

Salary: R25,000 – R35,000 gross per month (Negotiable based on experience)

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Are you a seasoned, hands-on production leader with a proven track record in heavy industrial manufacturing? We are looking for an experienced  Production Foreman  to take full operational control of shift operations for a leading continuous-process manufacturing plant.

This is  not  a desk job—we are seeking a highly visible, floor-focused leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage a team of 30+ employees, and can make decisive, safety-first calls under pressure. Reporting directly to the Factory Manager, you will serve as the senior operational decision-maker on shift.

Duties & Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Hands-on Team Leadership:  Directly and indirectly lead 30+ employees per shift (including team leaders, operators, and general workers). Drive accountability, conduct shift handovers, manage performance, and foster a culture of safety and discipline.
  • Process Control & Execution:  Oversee and balance end-to-end production areas—including crushing, extrusion/forming, drying, and kiln/firing operations—to meet daily production targets.
  • Quality & Downtime Management:  Monitor throughput, control waste/rejects, troubleshoot process deviations, and work closely with Maintenance to minimise plant downtime.
  • Safety & Compliance (Section 8 Supervision):  Enforce strict OHS standards, lead toolbox talks, maintain high housekeeping standards, and exercise authority to stop any unsafe work.
  • Continuous Improvement:  Track shift metrics (downtime, outputs, efficiency) and implement practical solutions to optimise energy use, labour productivity, and plant reliability.

Desired Experience & Qualification

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Experience:  7–10 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing, continuous-process, or industrial environment (e.g., clay brick, ceramics, cement, mining, quarrying, or similar continuous production).
  • Leadership:  At least 3–5 years of proven supervisory or foreman-level experience managing large shift teams (30+ staff).
  • Education:  Grade 12 / Matric is required. A technical trade, qualification, or certificate in production management is highly advantageous.
  • Technical & Process Skill:  Practical knowledge of extrusion, kilns/furnaces, drying processes, and basic plant maintenance principles.
  • Attributes:  Decisive under pressure, fair and consistent, highly organised, with strong mechanical/process aptitude.
  • Flexibility:  Willingness and ability to work shifts, weekends, overtime, and handle call-outs when required.
