Product Development (responsible)
- Cost and time management of all related projects
- Prototype design, technical qualification and testing
- Manufacturing process design and implementation - Distribution and Transmission Hardware Products, inclusive of the following (not exhaustive)
- Substation Clamps, wireform and vibration damping products
- Small hardware components forming part of a different value stream (e.g. fuse cut out components), only production implementation.
- Continuous Improvement of products and manufacturing processes i.r.t. design.
- Technical specification and direct engagement with potential suppliers of new materials, components or products until project completion or supplier qualification.
- Issuance of manufacturing drawings to relevant stakeholders to ensure correctness of design revision.
Quality Management (support)
- Assist the Quality department in the reduction of production waste in the hardware manufacturing departments.
- Provide guidance to the receipt inspection team on all related incoming materials to be used on related products.
- Lead, report and closeout all engineering related non-conformance investigations related to the specific product line.
Sales and Marketing (support)
- Assist in the compilation of tenders and other customer enquiries by completing all technical submissions on distribution and transmission hardware product lines and
- Address and close out all technical product-related customer complaints
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, preferably BSc (Eng)
- Professional registration with ECSA is a prerequisite Experience Required
- A minimum of 5 years of product development experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in the development of line hardware essential.
- Experience in the electrical power transmission and distribution industry a distinct advantage.
