Procurement Manager | Renewable Energy Project (Solar PV + BESS) | Contract | Postmasburg, Northern Cape

Introduction

Our client, a global engineering and construction company, is currently seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to join a large-scale solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) project in the Northern Cape. This is a project-based contract until November 2027.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead and manage procurement activities for the project in accordance with project requirements, procedures and schedules.

• Develop and implement project procurement strategies and procurement plans.

• Manage the procurement process from requisition through RFQ, supplier evaluation, negotiation, purchase order and close-out.

• Coordinate with Engineering, Construction, Planning, Stores and Commercial teams to ensure materials and equipment are procured and delivered in line with project requirements.

• Manage supplier and subcontractor relationships and monitor supplier performance.

• Ensure timely availability of project materials, equipment and services to support construction activities.

• Review commercial and technical aspects of supplier quotations and support supplier selection.

• Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, delivery schedules and contractual conditions.

• Monitor procurement schedules and identify potential supply-chain risks and delays.

• Maintain procurement documentation, records and reporting.

• Ensure compliance with project procurement procedures, governance requirements and applicable policies.

• Coordinate with the site Stores team regarding material deliveries, receipt and documentation.

• Support cost control, forecasting and reporting related to procurement activities.

• Manage procurement interfaces relating to Owner-supplied equipment and project-supplied materials.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Bachelor's degree / National Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Engineering, Economics, Law, Business or a related field.

• Minimum 5+ years' experience in procurement, preferably within construction, mining, energy, power or infrastructure projects.

• Proven experience managing project procurement from requisition through to delivery and close-out.

• Experience managing procurement for large-scale engineering/construction projects.

• Strong supplier management, negotiation and commercial skills.

• Experience with procurement of electrical, mechanical, civil or energy-related equipment and materials will be advantageous.

• Exposure to solar PV, BESS or renewable energy projects will be advantageous.

• Strong understanding of project supply-chain processes and procurement governance.

• Experience working with ERP/procurement systems.

• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

• Valid driver's license and own vehicle.
