  • The Procurement Manager II is responsible for overseeing and managing procurement activities and inventory levels for Long Steel products, ensuring the timely and cost-effective availability of goods required to support operational requirements. The role is responsible for supplier and stakeholder management, procurement strategy and execution, stock optimisation, pricing and market analysis, master data integrity, and ensuring compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
  • The position works closely with Business Unit Executives, Branch Managers, Sales and Marketing, Demand Planning, Finance and other key stakeholders to ensure procurement activities support business objectives and organisational performance.

Minimum Requirements Required Qualifications / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree / Advanced Diploma in Supply Chain Management or a related field – essential.
  • Minimum of 10 years' operational experience and 10 years' management experience within the Steel and Engineering industry – essential.
  • Extensive experience in procurement, inventory management and supplier management.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, supply chain principles and commercial practices.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and MS Excel.
  • Valid Code EB driver's licence; articulated motor vehicle licence advantageous/required where applicable.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operational Management: Implement Business Unit goals, functional plans and performance requirements.
  • Financial Management: Monitor procurement costs, pricing, settlements and inventory levels.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Manage internal, external and local/international supplier relationships.
  • People Management: Lead, manage, coach and develop the Procurement team.
  • Governance, Compliance & Risk: Ensure compliance and manage procurement-related risks and remedial actions.
  • Inventory & Procurement Management: Oversee purchasing, stock levels, supplier performance, market research and master data.
  • Market & Inventory Planning: Monitor market trends and support future inventory requirements.
  • Sales & Pricing: Monitor cost structures and selling and contract prices and oversee price lists.
