We are seeking an experienced and strategically driven Procurement Manager to join Chery International. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing the company's procurement function, ensuring effective sourcing strategies, supplier relationship management and cost optimisation across the business.
Working closely with internal stakeholders and departmental leadership, the Procurement Manager will play a key role in developing procurement strategies, driving operational efficiencies, managing supplier performance and ensuring that all procurement activities align with the company's commercial objectives and business requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
Develop, implement and oversee strategic procurement policies, procedures and sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives.
Lead end-to-end procurement processes, including supplier identification, sourcing, evaluation, due diligence and onboarding.
Manage and develop strategic supplier relationships, ensuring competitive pricing, service delivery and long-term value.
Lead complex commercial negotiations, including pricing structures, contractual terms, service-level agreements (SLAs) and supplier performance expectations.
Oversee supplier contracts, agreements and renewals, ensuring compliance with company policies and procurement standards.
Monitor supplier performance against agreed KPIs, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective measures where necessary.
Identify opportunities for cost savings, procurement efficiencies and process optimisation without compromising quality or service delivery.
Conduct regular supplier reviews and market assessments to ensure the business remains commercially competitive.
Establish and maintain effective procurement controls, governance frameworks and risk management processes.
Collaborate with internal departments and senior management to understand procurement requirements and provide strategic procurement solutions.
Prepare and present procurement reports, supplier performance reviews and relevant management insights.
Identify and mitigate procurement and supply chain risks.
Lead, mentor and develop the procurement team, where applicable.
Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as required by Management.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Matric / Grade 12.
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Management or a related field.
Minimum of 5–8 years' relevant procurement experience.
Previous experience in a managerial or senior procurement role.
Automotive industry experience will be highly advantageous.
Proven experience in strategic sourcing, supplier management and commercial negotiations.
Demonstrated experience managing supplier contracts, procurement budgets and cost-saving initiatives.
