S.M.E.I. Projects has a vacant position of Processing & Nesting Administrator.
The job is suitable for an individual who is not only qualified and experienced, but motivated, and dedicated to an effective administrator to support structural steel processing, model and drawing verification, STRUMIS work orders, material nesting and preparation of machine-ready production information. The position is based at the Head Office in Boksburg.
Duties & Responsibilities
Tasks of the job include but are not limited to the following activities:
- Review structural steel models, drawings and fabrication information before production process.
- Identify and resolve detailing errors, omissions and technical discrepancies that may affect procurement or the fabrication process.
- Generate and maintain fabrication work orders and workstation routing.
- Perform plate nesting in SigmaNest, support profile nesting and optimize material utilization.
- Prepare material requirements and Purchase Order Requests from approved nesting results.
- Generate, transfer and verify cutting plans and machine-ready information for profile and plate-processing systems.
- Maintain traceability between purchased material, nests, cutting plans and fabricated components.
- Support Production and Quality functions with processing queries, reporting and continuous improvements.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Matric or equivalent qualification.
- Practical experience in using SigmaNest for plate nesting.
- Have relevant experience in structural steel, plate processing, fabrication, nesting, or CNC production.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, parts information and material specifications.
- Have good understanding of structural steel sections, material grades, and fabrication terminology.
- Basic understanding of CNC cutting and manufacturing processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem solving abilities, and being prudent with accuracy under strict deadlines.
