Process Engineer - Shared Services

About the role We are looking for a practical and motivated Process Engineer to support and improve our manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that manufacturing processes are safe, reliable, efficient and capable of consistently producing products that meet the required quality standards. The role also supports new products, production equipment and improvement projects from initial investigation through implementation and operational handover. You will work closely with Engineering, Production, Maintenance, Quality, SHEQ, customers and suppliers. Duties & Responsibilities

• Monitor and improve manufacturing processes, workflows and production performance.
• Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, cycle time, scrap and downtime
• Investigate process and product problems, perform root-cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Establish suitable process parameters, controls, operating instructions and supporting documentation.
• Track process performance and report on relevant KPIs and improvement activities.
• Conduct process trials, capability studies and first-off sample approvals.
• Support new-product introduction and ensure that new or changed processes are incorporated into the Quality Management System.
• Participate in risk assessments, Process FMEAs and other defect-prevention activities.
• Apply continuous-improvement methods such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, error proofing and waste reduction.
• Develop or review equipment specifications, layouts, engineering drawings and manufacturing requirements.
• Support equipment, tooling and automation projects from concept and supplier selection through installation, testing and commissioning.
• Coordinate FATs, SATs, equipment trials, snag-list closeout and operational handover.
• Work with suppliers and internal teams to resolve technical, quality and delivery concerns.
• Prepare project and technical reports and present progress to relevant stakeholders.
• Maintain process documentation, drawings, test procedures, manuals and training records.
• Provide technical support and training to Production, Quality and Maintenance teams.
• Ensure compliance with company health, safety, environmental and quality requirements

Desired Experience & Qualification

About you

• National Senior Certificate / Matric / Grade 12 Certificate (Completed)
• National Diploma, Advanced Diploma, BTech, BEng or BSc Eng in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Industrial, Electrical or a related Engineering discipline.
• Approximately four or more years’ relevant experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Experience in process engineering, quality assurance, manufacturing improvement or engineering-project implementation.
• Experience in plastics manufacturing, injection moulding, extrusion, automotive or a similar production environment would be advantageous.
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and structured problem-solving methods.
• Understanding of quality systems, process measurement and manufacturing-process controls.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks would be advantageous.
• Experience working with equipment suppliers, contractors or customers.
• Computer literacy, including the ability to analyse and present technical data.
• Practical, analytical and solutions focused.
• Able to work independently and use sound judgement.
• Good planning and prioritisation skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working collaboratively across different departments.
• Takes ownership and follows tasks and projects through to completion.
