- To provide actionable pricing insight and commercial analysis that enables informed and competitive pricing decisions aligned to the company's pricing strategy in order to maximise revenue and profit opportunities.
Job description
- To identify pricing opportunities and provide actionable recommendations to category teams that support the pricing strategy and enable informed commercial decision making.
- To monitor and evaluate the performance of pricing strategies by analysing scenario outcomes, category elasticity and price zone performance to support optimisation decisions across the business.
- To maintain and apply pricing rules and "follow me" factors, including weekly review of KVI prices, to ensure consistency, competitiveness and adherence to the business pricing strategy.
- To assess and approve deviations from system‑recommended pricing and to manage markdown, clearance and lifecycle pricing decisions to optimise revenue, margin and inventory performance.
- To analyse competitor price recommendations and performance across local and international markets and provide insights that support strategic price positioning and zoning decisions.
- To provide pricing insight and analysis during range reviews that enable Category and Space Teams to make assortment decisions aligned to revenue, margin and competitive positioning objectives.
- To prepare clear pricing performance reports and weekly scorecards with actionable insights that inform decision making and support continuous improvement.
- To contribute to capability development within the pricing team by sharing expertise and providing coaching that improves analytical quality and enhances business impact.
JOB RELATED KNOWLEDGE
- Finance and budgeting
- IT Data base/ Data warehouse understanding how data flows from various systems
- SQL coding
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of JDA and/or statistical software

- Troubleshooting skills
- Good applied statistics skills including statistical testing, regression
- Ability to translate complex, data-intense analytics into actionable recommendations
- Experience working effectively in a cross-functional team environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey findings to both peers and upper-level management
- Team player with the ability to excel in an agile, collaborative, and ambiguous environment
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software applications
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; i.e. pivot tables, lookups, macros, modelling
Minimum requirements
JOB EXPERIENCE
- 2-3 years' experience in pricing management within the retail, telecommunications, or financial service industry
- Strong mathematical skills and the ability to see marketing patterns and trends
- Financial modelling - using Excel
- Experience with SQL or any data warehousing tool would be advantageous
EDUCATION
- B.Com or Business Science Degree in Finance or Statistics, Data Science or related
