Start free — we apply for you →A leading engineering and energy consultancy is seeking a Power Systems Engineer to join its technical team and contribute to a diverse portfolio of power-system and energy infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for power-system studies, network modelling, electrical design and technical analysis , supporting projects from feasibility and concept development through to detailed engineering, implementation and commissioning. The role will provide exposure to utility networks, industrial power systems, renewable-energy projects, substations and grid integration .
Key Responsibilities
- Perform power-system studies including:
- Load-flow analysis
- Short-circuit calculations
- Motor-starting studies
- Voltage-drop and voltage-profile assessments
- Harmonic and power-quality studies
- Network stability studies
- Power-factor correction
- Develop and maintain electrical network models.
- Perform grid impact and grid-code compliance studies for generation and renewable-energy projects.
- Undertake protection coordination studies and assist with protection-system design.
- Provide technical input into HV and MV electrical system designs.
- Review and interpret substation primary and secondary/control schematics.
- Develop technical reports, calculations, specifications and engineering documentation.
- Support the design and specification of transformers, switchgear, protection systems, cables and associated electrical equipment.
- Investigate power-quality and network-performance issues.
- Provide technical support during procurement, installation, testing and commissioning.
- Review vendor and contractor documentation.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Participate in site inspections and technical investigations.
- Assist with project proposals, feasibility studies and technical due diligence.
- Ensure engineering deliverables comply with applicable standards, specifications and statutory requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- BEng / BSc / BTech in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- 38 years' relevant power-systems engineering experience.
- Practical experience with power-system modelling and analysis.
- Experience using DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, PSS/E or similar software.
- Strong understanding of electrical power systems and network analysis.
- Experience with load-flow and short-circuit studies.
- Knowledge of HV and MV systems.
- Understanding of protection systems and coordination.
- Good technical report-writing and engineering documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary
