Plumber Class 1 (Contract)

Purpose of Role The Plumber will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing, water, and sewer systems across site facilities and camp infrastructure. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Plumbing Installation & Maintenance Install, maintain, and repair plumbing and drain laying systems across site facilities, camp infrastructure, and construction projects. Install and maintain PVC pipework systems , ensuring correct routing, pressure testing, and compliance with specifications. 2. Water & Sewer Reticulation Install, maintain, and repair water and sewer reticulation systems across the project site and camp facilities. Respond promptly to sewer and water services issues within the camp to minimize disruption to site operations. Conduct routine inspections of reticulation systems and undertake proactive preventive maintenance to ensure continued serviceability. 3. Solar & Electrical Geyser Systems Install and maintain solar and electrical geyser systems in camp and site facilities. Diagnose and repair faults in geyser and hot water systems, ensuring all works comply with applicable standards and safety requirements. 4. Water Treatment Plants Assist in the installation, operation, and maintenance of water treatment plants on site. Monitor treatment plant performance and escalate any anomalies or failures to the supervisor for corrective action. 5. Pump & Pumping Systems Operate, inspect, and maintain pumps and duplicated pumping systems across site infrastructure. Conduct routine checks and preventive maintenance on pump installations to ensure reliability and optimal performance. 6. Civil Works Support Provide practical input and hands-on support on civil works activities related to plumbing, drainage, and underground services. Coordinate with civil engineering and construction teams to ensure plumbing systems are correctly integrated into project designs and specifications. Support small project delivery within the GES team, including camp maintenance and general site infrastructure works. 7. Drawings Interpretation & BOQ Preparation Read, interpret, and work from construction drawings, plans, and isometric diagrams to execute plumbing tasks accurately. Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for small plumbing and civil projects as required by the GES team. Contribute to project planning by providing material take-offs and estimates to support procurement activities. 8. Safety & Regulatory Compliance Work in full compliance with the Mining (Management and Safety) Regulations (S.I 109 of 1990) and/or the Mine Health and Safety Act 29 of 1996 . Identify, report, and mitigate plumbing-related hazards, near misses, and incidents in line with site safety protocols. Ensure the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times, particularly when working in confined, awkward, or elevated spaces. Actively participate in toolbox talks, safety inductions, and site safety meetings. Adhere to all Karo Platinum Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures at all times.
