PLC Engineer

The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced PLC Engineer to join the engineering team and take responsibility for the design, programming, integration, commissioning and optimisation of industrial control systems. This position is ideal for an engineer or automation professional who enjoys solving complex technical problems and working across the full project lifecycle, from PLC software development and HMI/SCADA integration through to site commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and program PLC-based control systems for industrial applications.
• Develop PLC software, control logic, sequencing and machine-control functionality.
• Configure and develop HMI and SCADA systems .
• Integrate PLCs with instrumentation, drives, motors, safety systems and other field devices.
• Develop functional descriptions, control philosophies, I/O lists and software documentation.
• Perform PLC hardware and software configuration.
• Conduct factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT).
• Commission control systems on client sites.
• Fault-find and troubleshoot PLC, automation, electrical and control-system issues.
• Optimise existing control systems to improve reliability, productivity and operational efficiency.
• Interface with electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and process engineering teams.
• Provide technical support to clients and internal engineering teams.
• Prepare project documentation, reports and commissioning records.
• Assist with project planning, estimation and technical specifications where required.
• Travel to client sites locally and internationally when required.

Minimum Requirements

• BEng / BSc / BTech / National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Control Systems or Automation .
• Minimum 35 years' experience in PLC programming and industrial automation.
• Strong practical experience with one or more PLC platforms such as:
• Siemens
• Rockwell / Allen-Bradley
• Schneider
• Mitsubishi
• Omron

• Experience with HMI and SCADA development .
• Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP/RTU or Profibus .
