  • We are looking for an experienced Plant Specialist to to manage the interior plants in the office park. The Plant Specialist is responsible for the care, maintenance, and presentation of all interior plants across the client's office buildings. The role ensures that all indoor plants remain healthy, attractive, and contribute to a welcoming, professional working environment. The successful candidate will proactively identify plant health issues, implement preventative care, and maintain high horticultural standards.

Duties & Responsibilities Knowledge

  • Indoor plant identification.
  • Watering and fertilisation techniques.
  • Pest and disease management.
  • Plant nutrition and soil requirements.
  • Safe chemical handling.
  • Basic record keeping.

Plant Care & Maintenance

  • Water indoor plants according to individual species requirements.
  • Prune, trim, and groom plants to maintain a neat appearance.
  • Remove dead or damaged leaves, flowers, and branches.
  • Dust and clean plant foliage to promote healthy growth and improve appearance.
  • Rotate plants where necessary to ensure even growth.
  • Repot plants when required and replace growing media as needed.
  • Apply fertilisers and plant nutrients in accordance with recommended schedules.
  • Monitor soil moisture and drainage to prevent overwatering or dehydration.

Plant Health Management

  • Conduct regular inspections for pests, diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and other plant health concerns.
  • Implement appropriate pest and disease control measures using approved products and methods.
  • Recommend replacement of plants that are beyond recovery.
  • Maintain records of plant treatments and maintenance activities.

Installation & Plant Displays

  • Assist with the installation of new indoor plants and decorative planters.
  • Arrange and maintain plant displays to meet aesthetic standards.
  • Ensure plant containers remain clean and in good condition.
  • Replace decorative stones, mulch, or moss where required.

Client Service

  • Maintain a professional appearance and provide excellent customer service.
  • Respond promptly to client requests regarding plant care.
  • Communicate any concerns, recommendations, or improvement opportunities to management.
  • Build positive relationships with building occupants and facility representatives.

Inventory & Administration

  • Maintain stock of fertilisers, pesticides, pots, tools, and consumables.
  • Report damaged or missing equipment.
  • Keep accurate maintenance schedules and service records.
  • Assist with plant inventories and condition assessments.

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Follow all company health and safety procedures.
  • Safely handle fertilisers, pesticides, and other horticultural chemicals.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment PPE.
  • Dispose of plant waste and chemicals in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Ensure work areas remain clean and hazard-free.

Qualifications

  • Certificate or Diploma in Horticulture, Landscaping, or a related field preferred.
  • Valid driver's licence advantageous.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years' experience caring for indoor plants.
  • Experience in commercial offices, hotels, hospitals, shopping centres, or corporate environments is advantageous.
