REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 1 : Appropriate qualification and registration with SAPC as Pharmacist - One 1 year relevant experience after registration as a pharmacist with a recognized foreign health professional council in respect of foreign qualified employees of whom it is not required to perform community service as required in South Africa.
  • Grade 2 : Five 5 years relevant experience after registration with SACP as a pharmacist. Six 6 years relevant experience after registrations as a pharmacist with a recognized foreign health professional council in respect of foreign qualified employees of whom it is not required to perform community service as required in South Africa.
  • Grade 3: Thirteen 13 years relevant experience after registration with SACP as a pharmacist. – fourteen 14 years relevant experience after registration as a pharmacist with a recognized foreign health professional council in respect of foreign qualified employees of whom it is not required to perform community service as required in South Africa.
  • All-inclusive salary package: 70% and 30% flexible portion can be restructured. Senior Certificate STD 10 / Grade 12 plus a National Diploma / Degree in Pharmacy plus, Current registration as a Pharmacist with the SAPC plus, registration as a Pharmacist with a recognized foreign health professional council in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Training and Competence Required: Computer Literacy and Unendorsed valid Code B driver's licence Code 08. Sound knowledge of legislation applicable to Pharmacy practices. Team building, conflict management and analytical skills. Appropriate clinical and theoretical knowledge. Professional concern for excellence. Sound interpersonal, communication, planning and organising skills. Sound knowledge of Human Resource Management and staff relations legislation.
  • Willingness to tutor and mentor pharmacist's assistants and interns. Knowledge of the principles of stock replenishment and the operation of a Pharmacy Store. Computer literacy for provisioning of dispensing services to patients. To provide cost effective, high quality pharmaceutical services to patients, wards and clinics within all applicable legislations.

DUTIES

  • Maintain accurate and appropriate records in line with legal requirements. Provision of pharmaceutical services to wards and departments. Provision of pharmaceutical services by dispensing prescriptions.
  • Participate in pharmacy related committees PTC, Antibiotic Stewardship and Pharmacovigilance. Engage in effective communication with departments and service providers to ensure high service quality is rendered. Maintain proper use and care of all resources and ensure optimal usage.
  • Perform standby duties and overtime when required after hours services. Participate in staggered working hours to improve patient access to medicines as per roster. Plan own work and administer work procedures to meet the objectives for the department ensuring efficient service delivery. Make recommendations with regard to policies / strategies for the effective functioning of Pharmacy department.
  • Assist and train staff according to departmental requirements. Be willing to be a tutor for students and interns. Ensure implementation, monitoring and evaluation of EPMDS Pharmacist Assistant. Maintain stock levels and ensure availability of medicines. Implementation of the Standard Procedures, good pharmacy practice, norms and standards with regards to the procurement, storage and dispensing of pharmaceuticals. Compile and analyse medicine availability reports and take corrective actions to prevent medicine stock outs.
