- BPharm or equivalent degree in Pharmacy
- Current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council SAPC as a pharmacist
- Experience working as a pharmacist in a retail, hospital, or industrial pharmacy setting.
- Legal & Regulatory Knowledge
- Sound knowledge of South African pharmacy laws and regulations, including:
- Medicines and Related Substances Act
- Pharmacy Act
- Good Pharmacy Practice GPP guidelines
- Understanding of controlled medicines Schedules 4–6 compliance requirements
Key Duties and responsibilities will include
- Accept overall legal responsibility and accountability for the operation of the pharmacy
- Implement, maintain, and monitor Good Pharmacy Practice GPP standards
- Supervise and manage pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacist assistants, and support staff
- Ensure the safe procurement, storage, handling, and distribution of medicines
- Maintain effective stock control systems, including monitoring expiry dates and preventing stock losses
- Ensure secure handling of scheduled medicines e.g. Schedule 5 and 6 in accordance with legal requirements
- Maintain accurate and complete records and documentation as required by law
- Oversee the dispensing process to ensure accuracy, safety, and compliance
- Ensure the pharmacy operates within its registered scope of practice
- Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures SOPs
- Ensure training and competency of all pharmacy personnel
- Be physically present at the pharmacy for the required minimum time as per regulations
