Location: Century City, Cape Town
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:30
Salary: Dependent on experience and level
An established insurance group is seeking an experienced Personal Lines Underwriter to service and grow an existing portfolio of personal lines clients.
This role will suit a knowledgeable and client-focused insurance professional who can confidently manage renewals, new business, policy amendments and insurer negotiations while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Service and manage an existing portfolio of personal lines clients.
- Assess, underwrite and accept risks for new and existing clients.
- Prepare and issue quotations, renewals, endorsements and policy documentation.
- Ensure all business is conducted in accordance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Negotiate competitive terms with insurers for renewals, quotations and new business.
- Prepare proposals and Records of Advice.
- Identify opportunities to retain clients and cross-sell additional products.
- Respond promptly and professionally to client and insurer queries.
- Maintain accurate, complete and up-to-date client records.
Requirements
- Matric.
- Relevant NQF Level 4 insurance qualification.
- RE5 accreditation.
- Up-to-date CPD requirements.
- At least 3–5 years’ short-term personal lines underwriting experience.
- Sound knowledge of personal lines insurance products, underwriting principles and regulatory requirements.
- Strong computer literacy and general IT proficiency.
- Experience using FLEXI will be advantageous.
- Strong communication, negotiation and client-service skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and administrative accuracy.
