Department Operations
• Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Perishable Department. • Ensure the department is clean, organised, and fully stocked at all times. • Maintain high merchandising standards in line with company requirements. • Implement promotional displays accurately and effectively. • Monitor product availability and replenish stock as needed. • Ensure all opening and closing procedures are completed correctly. Stock Control and Inventory
• Monitor stock levels and place orders when required. • Receive and inspect deliveries for quality, quantity, and accuracy. • Rotate stock using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method. • Remove expired, damaged, or poor-quality products promptly. • Minimise shrinkage, waste, and stock losses. • Conduct regular stock counts and assist with inventory management. Food Safety and Compliance
• Ensure compliance with all food safety legislation and company policies. • Monitor refrigeration equipment and product temperatures. • Maintain accurate temperature logs and food safety records. • Ensure products are correctly labelled and dated. • Maintain excellent hygiene and housekeeping standards. • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements. Customer Service
• Deliver outstanding customer service through friendliness, efficiency, and quality. • Respond to customer enquiries and provide product recommendations. • Resolve customer complaints professionally and promptly. • Ensure product presentation enhances the customer shopping experience. Team Leadership
• Supervise, motivate, and support department staff. • Allocate daily tasks and monitor employee performance. • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. • Assist with employee induction and on-the-job training. Sales and Profitability
• Support the achievement of departmental sales targets. • Monitor sales trends and identify opportunities for improvement. • Reduce wastage through effective stock management. • Monitor gross profit margins. • Ensure promotional activities are executed successfully. Health and Safety
• Promote a safe working environment for employees and customers. • Report hazards, incidents, and accidents promptly. • Ensure all health and safety standards are consistently maintained. Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
- A qualification in Retail Management, Food Retail, Business Management, or a related field will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 23 years' retail experience within a Perishable Depart
