Job Summary

  • This role involves overseeing the accurate and timely processing of payroll, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, managing payroll reporting and employee-related processes, and providing leadership, guidance and support to the payroll team and relevant stakeholders.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversee the monthly payroll process to ensure accurate and timely payment of employees
  • Process, submit and manage payments relating to EMP201 and ERA submissions
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Labour requirements, including reporting, submissions and audits
  • Ensure adherence to statutory requirements, company policies and procedures
  • Prepare and present monthly payroll reports, highlighting key metrics and variances
  • Manage annual payroll reporting processes and ensure timely regulatory submissions
  • Oversee timesheet management to ensure accuracy and compliance with payroll policies
  • Oversee employee appointment and termination processes
  • Provide advice and support to employees on salary and payroll-related matters
  • Mentor and coach payroll staff to maintain departmental standards, practices and processes
  • Act as a point of contact for operational payroll queries and provide guidance to stakeholders
  • Assist with general Payroll and HR functions, including employee queries and support
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports for relevant stakeholders
  • Perform other ad hoc payroll-related duties as required by management

Qualifications and Skills

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • Qualification in Finance, Accounting or a related field advantageous
  • Professional Payroll Certification advantageous
  • Minimum of 3 years' payroll experience with a strong understanding of payroll processes and systems
  • SAGE 300 People experience advantageous
  • Experience dealing with South African and Eswatini payroll and employment-related queries
  • Strong knowledge of South African and Eswatini legislation and income tax regulations
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and compliance
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with integrity
  • Bilingual Afrikaans and English advantageous
  • Valid Code 08 driver's license
  • Valid passport
