  • The Payroll & Benefits Officer provides comprehensive support to the Payroll Department and is responsible for the complete payroll process from start to finish.

Minimum requirements

  • Strong mathematical and numerical aptitude
  • Relevant payroll administration experience
  • Knowledge of South African Income Tax, employee benefits, and payroll legislation
  • Relevant payroll, taxation, or legislative courses, certificates, or formal qualifications will be advantageous
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and tax laws
  • Experience with end-to-end payroll administration
  • Sound understanding of: BCEA, UIF, COIDA, PAYE, SARS payroll requirements
  • Experience submitting: EMP201, EMP501, UIF declarations, COIDA Return of Earnings
  • Proficiency in: Microsoft Office Suite, Payroll software LabourNet Payroll experience will be advantageous, Time & Attendance software, SARS eFiling
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • High level of confidentiality and professionalism

Rebosibilities

End-to-End Payroll Administration

  • Process complete monthly payrolls accurately and on time from start to finish
  • Capture and process all payroll-related information, including: Time and attendance data, Overtime Commissions, Allowances, Ad hoc payroll adjustments
  • Ensure accurate payroll calculations and reconciliations
  • Manage and administer all employee leave types in accordance with company policies and labour legislation
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records

Statutaory Compliance & Tax Administration

  • Prepare, reconcile, and submit monthly EMP201 returns and payments to SARS
  • Manage and submit bi-annual and annual EMP501 reconciliations via easyFile
  • Generate and issue accurate IRP5 and IT3a tax certificates
  • Process monthly UIF declarations and submissions through uFiling
  • Prepare tax directives where required
  • Assist with various statutory compliance requirements relating to SARS and the Department of Employment and Labour

COIDA Administration

  • Prepare and electronically submit the annual COIDA Return of Earnings
  • Manage all COIDA-related administration, including:
  • New employer registrations
  • Compliance matters
  • Letters of Good Standing
  • General COIDA enquiries and submissions

Legislative Copmliance

  • Apply sound knowledge of all relevant payroll and employment legislation to ensure full client compliance, including: Income Tax legislation, Basic Conditions of Employment Act BCEA, Unemployment Insurance Fund UIF, Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act COIDA
  • Provide support and guidance to clients during statutory registrations, audits, and regulatory compliance matters

Cient Service

  • Deliver professional and efficient customer service
  • Resolve payroll, taxation, and employee benefits queries promptly
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Advise clients on remuneration structuring that complies with tax legislation and BCEA requirements
