- To ensure the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll while maintaining payroll records, supporting employees with payroll-related queries and ensuring compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Process employee payroll accurately and within prescribed deadlines.
- Capture and maintain employee payroll information, including new appointments, terminations, promotions, transfers, banking detail changes, personal information updates and other payroll amendments.
- Calculate payroll related earnings and deductions, including overtime, nightshift allowances and other approved allowances.
- Import and validate overtime from timekeeping systems into the payroll system.
- Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records in accordance with company policies and relevant legislation.
- Respond to employee payroll queries relating to salaries, deductions, overtime, leave balances, provident fund information and payroll documentation.
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports, including leave provisions, monthly payroll reconciliations, Union reconciliations, EMP201 reports and provident fund reconciliations.
- Reconcile payroll information to ensure accuracy before payroll is finalised.
- Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, tax regulations and company policies.
- Work closely with the Human Resources and Finance departments to ensure accurate employee and payroll information.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 Matric.
- Diploma or Certificate in Payroll Administration, Human Resources, Finance, or Accounting advantageous.
- Minimum 1 years' payroll administration experience.
- Experience working with payroll systems such as PaySpace or similar payroll software.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge and Skills
- Sound knowledge of payroll processes and payroll legislation.
- Understanding of PAYE, UIF, SDL, EMP201 and statutory payroll requirements.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict payroll deadlines.
