Office based position - no travelling required and no working from home. Job Scope The Payroll Accountant & HR Administrator is responsible for the accurate and timely review of monthly payroll, payroll accounting, oversight of statutory submissions and general HR administration. The position ensures compliance with applicable tax, payroll and employment legislation while maintaining accurate employee and financial records. Tasks detailed below provide a broad overview of the position. Due to the nature of the companies work and the position, there may be additional activities prescribed by Management from time to time. Detail: Key Responsibilities Payroll & Accounting Review monthly payroll accurately and within required deadlines (excludes director payroll), investigate payroll variances and evaluate reasons for variances – 1st check before final sign-off by Group HR Manager. 1st review of monthly EMP201 returns Assist with EMP501 reconciliations and submissions if required Reconcile payroll to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies Prepare payroll journals and related accounting entries Review and approve payroll journals and cost allocations from payroll staff Review & approve employee payments and third-party payments accurately Prepare payroll reports and schedules for management and financial reporting Assist with month-end and year-end accounting procedures Assist with financial and payroll audits by providing supporting documentation Respond to salary-related queries from site management Maintain strict confidentiality of employee, payroll and financial information HR Administration Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files Prepare employment packages, salary adjustment packages, confirmation letters and other HR documentation Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding processes Assist with recruitment administration Maintain accurate HR information on BLU Employee Masterfile and HR systems Assist with employee benefits and medical aid/provident fund administration where applicable Assist with HR reports (including employee STATS reports & various Board reports), monthly, quarterly and annual submissions Prepare information and reports for Scorecard audits and annual EE submissions Assist with employee-related administration Ensure HR records and processes comply with company policies and applicable South African legislation Payroll Legislative Compliance Ensure payroll calculations comply with applicable requirements in RSA and Africa Assist with EMP201 and EMP501 submissions and reconciliations. Apply relevant provisions of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA) and other applicable employment legislation. Maintain records required for payroll, HR and statutory purposes where required Assist with compliance audits and inspections where required Ensure employee information is processed in accordance with applicable privacy and confidentiality requirements. Minimum Requirements Diploma, degree or equivalent qualification in Accounting, Finance, Payroll, Human Resources or a related field. 5–10 years' experience in payroll and HR administration At least 5 years finance and accounting experience Practical experience with payroll processing Knowledge of PAYE, UIF, SDL and SARS payroll requirements Experience with EMP201 and EMP501 processes Good understanding of South African employment legislation Good understanding of African employment legislation preferable (not a requirement) Strong Excel skills Experience with accounting and/or payroll software Strong numerical and reconciliation abilities Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work under pressure and meet strict payroll deadlines High level of confidentiality and professional integrity Key Skills & Competencies Payroll processing PAYE, UIF and SDL SARS compliance EMP201 and EMP501 Payroll reconciliations Accounting and journal processing HR administration Employee records management Leave and attendance administration Microsoft Excel Attention to detail Problem-solving Time management Communication and interpersonal skills Confidentiality and integrity Key Performance Areas Success in the role will be measured by: Accurate and timely monthly payroll processing Accurate SARS and statutory submissions Successful payroll and general ledger reconciliations Accurate maintenance of employee and HR records Compliance with company policies and applicable legislation Prompt resolution of employee payroll and HR queries Effective support to both the Finance and HR departments Urgent Note when apply please share the following documents Please attach x 2 reference check Please attach most recent payslip show more...
